PSA Launches Hong Kong Submission Center to Serve Asia-Pacific Collectors

Grading giant PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) has opened a new Hong Kong branch within its parent company office Collectors Universe (HK) LTD, offering collectors across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region a faster, simplified path to grade cards while bypassing U.S. customs, tariffs, and delays. While the expansion is a positive step, it will mainly benefit Southeast Asian (SEA) collectors outside Hong Kong, as the city already hosts official PSA partners (brick-and-mortar shops) that previously managed bulk submissions.

However, this move pales in comparison to PSA’s investment in Europe, where a full-scale grading facility in Germany bypasses U.S. tariffs and customs entirely. For Asian collectors, the core challenge remains unresolved: submissions still route through U.S. customs, sustaining tariff complexities, turnarounds uncertainties, and deterring deeper investment in grading services.
Why It Matters:
Avoid Customs Hassles: Submissions no longer face U.S. tax or customs barriers.
Streamlined Process: Cards are shipped to PSA’s California HQ for grading, then returned directly to Hong Kong for local distribution.
Local Support: APAC collectors gain direct access to PSA’s services, reducing shipping costs and turnaround uncertainties.
“The Hong Kong hub addresses years of friction for APAC collectors,” said Ryan Miller, PSA VP International. “We’re creating a trusted, efficient gateway for this booming market.”

Why Hong Kong?
The hub capitalizes on Asia-Pacific’s growing collectibles demand, offering a strategic base for PSA to serve Southeast Asian markets. With streamlined logistics and no local grading bottlenecks, collectors gain quicker access to PSA’s trusted authentication—a critical edge for high-value TCGs, sports cards, and rare stickers.
